The first response
Keep the complete document and every delivery record private. Identify the issuing authority, note how and when the document was received, and arrange a document-based assessment before relying on a calculated deadline or taking a procedural step.
1. Identify the issuing authority
Check whether the document comes from a court, prosecutor, police or gendarmerie unit, enforcement office, municipality, migration authority or another administrative body. Preserve the authority name, file or reference number and every page; the document title alone may not identify the correct procedure.
2. Preserve the notification record
Keep the original document, envelope, delivery slip and any electronic-notification record. Write down when and how it was received without altering the document. The legally relevant notification date may require a separate assessment of the official record.
3. Treat every possible deadline as document-specific
Turkish proceedings can contain short objection, complaint, appeal or application periods. Do not calculate a deadline from a social-media answer or assume that a new application suspends an existing period. The issuing authority, procedure and notification record must be reviewed together.
4. Arrange reliable translation where required
A private translation may help you understand the document, but an authority may require a sworn translation, interpretation or another formal step. Keep the Turkish original and confirm the required form before relying on a translated copy in a proceeding.
5. Do not publish the document on social media
Court files and official documents may contain identity, address, health, financial or third-party information. Do not post them in public comments, reviews or open groups. Share only through a private channel agreed after initial contact.
6. Obtain a document-based assessment
Prepare a short chronology, the issuing authority, the visible notification information and a list of the documents you hold. Use the Legal Help Desk to identify the relevant practice area, then request an English-language appointment. Website information does not create an attorney-client relationship.
